Missing being at work, just need to tell someone

I'm a TA with grown up children and I just need to say nearly 3 weeks into the holidays and I'm really missing work. I'm autistic and I miss the routine, the children's faces, the sense of purpose.

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I miss work.

I totally agree. I’m a TA and am keen to find a 3-4 day position again around Kingston & Merton areas in secondary. Miss the daily routine & school life!

Similar situation here. Teacher, husband is working children and grown. I’m prepping for the new year and have some sewing projects to do. Teacher holidays are strange when you are in the house on your own.

I know a few people who say similar so you are not alone!

I have a friend who is still a young man (under 30) and he was saying the same the other day - he feels a bit 'lost' without the routine/seeing people. He lives alone, has lots of friends but most work in jobs that are not term time, so he can go days without seeing anyone!

I am married with a school age son so I am kept busy but I can well imagine it is harder if you live alone/partner works etc.

Is your school open? Could you speak to your line manager or another senior leader to see if they need any support in school preparing for the next academic year? I’m sure they’ll be appreciative of your support.
