Anxiety in staff meetings and safeguarding discussions at work

ive recently been having what seems like anxiety i am still able to work in early years but one thing that makes my nervous system act up is staff meetings and talking about child protection and any negitives about different childrens behaviour.

anybody been through similar? and what helped?

Ive got a appointment in August but still have a month left of working.

Im over 38 years old. with 5 years experience, its not nice to hear safeguarding but suddenly its been really effecting me, i have no past trauma.

I don't think anyone likes hearing this stuff, but you just have to remember you're doing it for the good of the children involved and future children who need to be safeguarded. Can you warn anyone giving the training that you find it hardgoing and may need to take a break? I had to do that in First Aid as I'm so squeamish and sometimes feel like I'm going to faint!

I've been saying this for ages, teachers take on such a lot and hear so much, but we don't have supervision or similar to discuss and share. It is very hard not to be impacted by some of what we deal with. You are not alone.

Do you have kids yourself that are a similar age to the safeguarding issues? That always makes it hit home harder.

Also talking to staff at your workplace. At mine we are always warned if there is upsetting content and to leave the room if we need to which helps.
