No jobs atm has me thinking of a subject change (PGCE Geography). Should I take this job if I'd like to teach geography again later?

In the south uk, trying to find a geography position. I've had 11 applications (2 cover, 1 RPE), 4 interviews and no job. I am doing my PGCE in geography, but have been invited to an interview for an RPE (Religious studies, philosophy and ethics) where I would do at least ECT 1. I definitely have the skills to teach it, but should I have any concerns if I wanted to go back and teach geography again? I am not willing to move out of the county, and there is lots of competition at job interviews. Is this interview worth going for?

Go for it. In teaching you never know what is round the corner. Corny but true. I am a Chemistry teacher and have taught RE to GCSE. English and Geography KS3 and been asked to teach Maths and Music to KS3. Chemistry is the only one I am qualified for and I stopped Geography and Music in Year 09

That's what I did first year after ECT
Second year (ECT2) I got 50/50 subject specialism
Third year 85% subject specialism
Fourth year (now) HOD in subject specialism and just been invited to apply for HOF because I have so much experience across humanities as a whole.

Also worth bearing in mind that the government recently removed the history / geography EBacc requirement so the ability to be a good hums all-rounder would be beneficial career-wise.

I imagine the interview has been and gone but yes, take it. If you can't relocate then you need to be pragmatic in the current climate. If you want to keep your hand in with geography then I imagine they will bite your hand off if you volunteer to accompany the field trips.
