Forced to become an academy after Ofsted?

Anyone with experience of academisation following Ofsted? We had our inspection at the beginning of February, result has not been published yet but SLT are looking stressed and the fear is that, if we have one or more 'areas for improvement' then we will be forced by the LA to join the local academy group.

I've been at the school all my career of 18 years, have built up my subject at A-level and am head of a core department. Those of us who've been here a long time have worked so hard, but the feeling is that we will just be treated as numbers if and when it happens.

Thanks for any thoughts.

I would try not to worry about it until it actually happens. There are so many variables here.

The LA don’t force the choice of trust, the decision is taken away from the LA too.
This is a DfE decision, including who the trust will be.

Just adding, unions will be involved in negotiating terms of change of your contract. Often there are no changes but you will all be supported.

Everything else is very dependent on the reasons for the inadequate and the trust appointed.

But there will be big changes ahead. Often when this happens staff choose to leave and given an inadequate the reasons for this will guide support, development and capability.

I support schools in a senior LA role, if you have any specific question. Otherwise I would be providing you with just masses of information!
