Anyone experience of Peter Symonds?

A job has come up that I am interested in.

I had another bad lesson with year 10 boys completely ignoring me and disrupting the lesson and being rude. So the appeal of teaching only 6th form is very high.

But it is a very different 6th form! Roughly 300 students in each year group in my subject!!

So has anyone worked there or knows someone who works there?

Very good reputation. Obviously, behaviour should be better because it will be pupils who have chosen to stay on to study subjects that they hopefully have an interest in/are good at. Likely to be pressure for results given its standing. Pulls from a largely wealthy catchment.

It's extremely popular, both with Winchester families and takes students from a much wider area of Hampshire too. There's strong support for state education in Winchester. Looking at the ethos of the excellent secondary schools that feed into Symonds I would think behaviour would generally be very positive too.

You’ll be moving from burgundy book to red book Ts and Cs; pay negotiations are separate from schools so 6FC teachers have had more pay disputes even than schools in recent years - but there is currently pay parity. 6FCs are in TPS. Overall funding is lower than schools receive but PSC is well off, as colleges go. It’s a fast-paced environment, and students / parents can be tricky (but that’s the same as schools…)
A lot of teachers have moved from 11-16 into 6FC in recent years
