What's a sturbon??

TeenToTwenties · 03/10/2025 15:48

stubborn (I expect)

Two clear choices, then walk away with "I'll leave that for you to think about and come back in 5 mins to see where you're up to." Plus, if needed, a reminder that not choosing isn't an option - there are consequences as per behaviour policy. If work, it's a case of, "we do it now or we do it in PE."

Giving them that space is crucial in preventing a battle...it allows them to climb down without losing face. It also gives you a way out without looking like you've given in.

I also use "phone a friend" if it's stubborn in terms of refusing to answer a q when called upon...they can ask a friend for help, but I expect them to give me the answer themselves. Doing that at this point of the year allows us to build confidence to speak in front of the class with their own ideas later on
