Hello,
I’m a former teacher of over 20 years and now a psychologist working with the Diabetic Research Team in the Department of Psychological Medicine at King’s College London.
We’re developing a new research project on childhood obesity, focusing on children in Key Stage 1, and we’d love your help. An important part of this work is forming a Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) group—a small group of people with relevant experience who work alongside researchers to make sure projects are grounded in real-life needs.
For teachers, this means sharing your insight into how health, wellbeing, or education initiatives affect pupils and schools. Your experience—whether delivering the national curriculum, shaping whole-school policy, or working closely with children and parents—can help us design research that is practical, relevant, and sensitive to the realities of the classroom
.
We’re looking for KS1 teachers, KS1 co-ordinators, science leads, and/or members of SMT/SLT to join the group.
The group will meet online in early autumn. We can offer a thank you for your time, and there may be opportunities to be involved again as the research develops. If you’re interested, please send me a private message on MN.
