Mortgage for teacher on rolling annual contract

I am 23 and coming to the end of my second year of teaching primary. I am on a 0.7 contract although I end up working almost 1.0 because things come up, cover etc. My contact has been renewed again for next year ie the 3rd year . DP and I have the deposit for a house we like. Has anyone successfully applied for a mainstream mortgage on this basis. DP is on a FT permanent contract

Why are you not on a proper contract? That is very unusual. Do you get paid over the summer correctly?

It should be ok from a mortgage point of view as you have a decent history of the pay

I think that there is some employment legislation that says temporary contracts shouldn’t be renewed year on year, but that after 2 or maybe 3 years of doing the same job your contract should become permanent. I would ask your Union.

I got a mortgage with my DP when I was on a fixed term contract which could have renewed/been rolling, but wasn't at the last minute. I lost the job 22 days after getting the keys to our first home!
