Would you pay for 24 for an independent school?

Would you pay for 24 (as a maximum) per class at an independent senior school? They average about 22 per class (with 5 classes per year group), and less in option GCSE and A-Level classes.

Yes. If the school was the right fit.

Class sizes were not one of the factors we took into account when choosing a school for our children. They were taught in classes of 25 (but smaller for GCSE and A level).

@Fifthtimelucky What were you looking for in an independent school?

I wanted an academically selective girls’ school with good provision in music, the arts generally and sport.

I also wanted a school with good pastoral care, where behaviour was good and where pupils were encouraged and supported to do their best. Above all, I wanted a school at which being clever and working hard were the norm rather than the exception.

There were also practical things I wanted (like the ability to travel to school on public transport) and things I didn’t want (boarding).
