How much of the budget would a department get? For example, a maths dept with all students years 7-11 studying maths (1000 students) and 50 a-level students, how much would the HoD expect to get?

There’ll be a formula. Ask SLT for it. Maths and English actually get relatively little - compared to say, science, art or tech - because they’re considered cheap to teach. No specialist equipment or consumables.

I am a science HoD - this school is slightly different as we are new so building up resources but the last three years has been around 17k (not including printing that is separate).

Previous school, around 16k but that was fully established. We had A-level though and that also included printing, including most mocks.

I’m HoD for English approx 800 pupils ks3/4 and 60a level and I get about £13500 a year.
