Independent school teachers - redundancies?

I work in a small-ish stand alone prep and we have been told there will be some redundancies being made for September. My friend works in a similar school in a neighbouring which has just announced it’s being bought by a schools group and merging with a senior school, coming with it a third of the staff being made redundant! It’s all quite unsettling. I think my role is safe but I’m keeping an eye out on TES just in case.
Anyone else in a similar situation?

No. Not in that position but was name redundant from a state school 23 years ago.
Contact your union to make sure all is done correctly and you get what you are entitled to

Thanks @Leafy74 - actually not a member of a union but should maybe change that!

Definitely.
A private school may be less willing to stick to the law.

We are going through redundancies as are two other local schools. I know people hope we will go back to the state sector but I doubt there is much call for an expensive primary teacher who hasn’t taught Sats for 20 years.
