Apologies I've written the title and I can't scroll back to see spelling error.

I'm a ta and I've been asked to do between 2 and 3 hours teaching and I wondered what sort of planning time would a teacher expect for that session?

There is no teacher who teaches it so I've got past papers and some other bits but I'm on my own.

Do you mean how long the planning might take? Or how much PPA time you should be entitled to?

PPA is 10% of teaching time, so for 3 hours the PPA would be 18 minutes. 12 minutes for 2 hours.

Obviously, planning and preparing can take much longer than this.

During teacher training I think the rule of thumb was that planning should not take longer than the actual teaching. BUT during training planning easily took 3 times as long as teaching!
It also highly depends on your access to resources: do you follow a book, or do you need to plan everything from scratch?
Ideally departments will share resources, so that you don’t have to keep reinventing the wheel.
There are lots of Facebook groups where teachers share material, as well as tes.
