Hi, at Christmas, I am leaving my current school after many, many years there. I would like to get some sort of gift for the staff collectively that will bring them a little pleasure in the term ahead. It is a difficult school to work in at the moment, which I can't really change.
I'd ideally like to spend £100-150 on something useful or enjoyable for them.
Some thoughts:
Coffee maker
Air fryer
Good quality soaps/hand cream/room spray for the toilets

We do already get a lot of cakes and biscuits so not that really. Does anybody have any suggestions please?
Thank you!!

Who would clean the sandwich maker/air fryer? That sort of thing leads to staff room brawls.

Are you primary or secondary?

crazyunicornlady73 · 14/12/2024 10:19

Primary, and yes you're right that would happen.
Air fryer I could buy a large pack of liners which would help a bit.

I don't think there's any real solution to that small group of staff who don't take care of things though.

Kitchen appliances don't get cleaned.

Nice staff toilet smellies get pinched

Cake/biscuits/chocolate/fizzy drink cans get stockpiled in people's cupboards.

But it's only a few people and I don't want to not get people a nice gift because of them.

Definitely a coffee machine. I wouldn’t spend the whole amount on an upmarket one, I’d get a standard one and spend the rest on a load of coffee pods to go in it. We have a nice one in our staffroom that was used for about 2 weeks until the pods ran out and we haven’t organised ourselves enough to keep replacing them!

What about monthly deliveries of coffee tea etc for the next 6 months.

good96 · 15/12/2024 21:06

A coffee machine for sure. Cannot go wrong with a tassimo and the pods are relatively cheap from B&M or other discount retailers.

You would need to check with your HT about an air fryer - as they are a fire hazard and some schools/academy trusts do not allow them.

No idea but they need chaining to the wall.
