What have colleagues in your school been dismissed for?

Just the above really. A HoD in my school was suspended during the summer term for falsifying assessment grades for GCSE students.

They were dismissed yesterday following an investigation. What’s the worst cases you’ve known someone to be dismissed for in a school?

In my 38 years in education, apart from those on temporary contracts, I have only known/had to dismiss 6 colleagues in all that time.
Worst one was about 25 years ago when I was an Assistant Head - a teaching member of staff was convicted of attempted murder and arson on his ex partner’s house. The police arrested him at work. He was sentenced for 18 years.

Other known dismissals have been capability and conduct related.

This isn’t that dramatic but one of my colleagues girlfriends got a teaching job at our school. He is a TA, and they knew when taking her on that she was his girlfriend.
She started on a temp contract but there was a hole to be filled permanently. At the end of the year they told her they didn’t need to extend her contract. But then they held interviews for another teacher. Even did some of the observations in her class. She was really upset as she didn’t want to leave. She was well liked by everyone and had done a great job, even took over leading science whilst science lead was off on long term sick, and she was brilliant at it. Her and her boyfriend never really crossed paths too often at school as they were based in different classes. Whenever they did, they were never anything but y.
A few months into the following school year, the head admitted to me that she hadn’t kept her on as she just hasn’t really liked the fact they were in a relationship and it didn’t “sit right” with her. Even though she knew this when taking her on.

So it’s no crazy dramatic, and it was a temp contract anyway, but it did always stick in my mind, especially because they did actually need a new permanent teacher.
