GCSE English lit marking

Hello,
I’ve marked for AQA for about ten years and I’m a bit blindsided by this year’s Lit results. Our school seem to have a disproportionate amount of students who achieved one or two grades below their predicted grades in Lit. Has anyone else seen this? Our Language grades are higher than Lit for the first time in a very long time. Thanks

We've got some very strange results in Lit this year.

I’ve been looking at the breakdown of marks across the two papers and they are very inconsistent. It’s the first time I’ve seen a fair number of students who were predicted 8s (and have achieved this in their mocks) not get even one grade below this.

DD got a 5 in AQA English language. She was predicted a 7 and got 7s and 8s in her (many) mock exams. All her other grades were 7s and 8s as expected. We are at a loss as to what happened with the English language.

5 is still a great mark but it’s frustrating when that’s not the mark your daughter expects or has gained over the two years. I hope she’s ok. Would you consider getting it remarked?

I'd like to see the script before we decide. A family member is an experienced English teacher and I'd like her to see it. She's seen lots of DD's writing etc. and is also surprised by the grade.

I don't know anyone who'd want to mark that paper though. It's ghastly.
