Some of the country finished for their 6 week break last week. Tomorrow is the final day of term for my school and in fact my last one in this school.
Joined the school as Deputy Headteacher in September 2003, promoted to Headteacher in 2007 and have led the school successfully for the last 17 years through 3 OFSTEDs, a significant lot of change over that time but I’ve loved it!!
I planned to stay here until I retire in two years but the new CEO of the academy trust had asked me to lead a turnaround plan for a failing school in the trust!!! Definitely retiring in 2026 though, my mind is set on that!
Wednesday I fly out to Cyprus for a couple of weeks before jetting back to the UK just in time for A-Levels results day! It’d be good to be back at the school for that day and also GCSE results day to celebrate with students and staff. Always makes it worthwhile seeing the efforts of students rewarded with the results they deserve!!
