Recruitment for TAs over summer holidays

Do schools continue TA recruitment and appointment over the summer holidays or is there a pause until September? I'm just wondering if there will be a larger choice available or whether to apply for those currently advertised. Thanks

It will vary from school to school. TA's are usually on a four week notice period so potentially vacancies will happen during summer break although staff do try and give notice so recruitment can happen in Term 6. My school tries to fill vacancies by end of Term 6 or we wait and start recruiting in Term 1, this also allows the potential applicant to see a 'working' school.

If we get resignations throughout the summer break for TAs then we would advertise and interview to hopefully get appointed for September.

I disagree with the need to wait to see a working school, it isn’t relevant and you aren’t assessing a TA for their teaching. You can get references from their previous employers. If I need to fill a vacancy urgently then I will…. No need for an X Factor style
bootcamp recruitment process!
