Hi everyone,

How does 16 lessons over 3 days for A level subjects sound in terms of workload.
Pro rata salary will be 22791 (£42733 FTE)per annum.
It's an Independent school so will have more extra duties in comparison to a state school.

Thanks in advance

Hi

How long are the lessons? What are the actual school hours for students?

Thanks for your reply.

Lessons are 40 minutes long. I will be teaching A-level classes. School teaching times are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but I will not be available for lesson 1 due to parental duties.

I teach A level 3 days a week in an academy and teach 11 x 55 min periods plus 3 x 30 min tutor time which I have worked out is a similar number of hours to you.

I also have one 55 min planning meeting a week, a 20 min staff meeting, a 20 min break duty and a 40 min lunch duty. I'm also expected to do one cover period a week, though don't always have to do that, and do one extra curricular club - I do Y12 study support for my subject after school day.

Pay is pretty similar, going up by £5k in September because I will become subject lead.

Thanks for your reply! So, salary-wise, it's not amazing, but not too bad either?
They did mention that I won't be the main tutor since I'm the primary parent doing school runs, so hopefully, they'll let me finish before the last teaching session.

Fingers crossed that my PPA time doesn't get messed up! 🤞

So it’s an 8 period day? If so then 16/24 seems like a very reasonable deal, even in the indi sector.
