Grievance against HoD- who all sees it?

Hello all,
I am planning on lodging a grievance against my HoD. I teach Chemistry in an independent school. The HoD and I are both new to the school. She is my line manager.
The grievance policy in my school states to send a grievance to your line manager or to the Head.
However, unofficial complaints that I have made against my HoD have gone to my Deputy Head and Assistant Head (partly in response to false things she raised about me to them) and I have had meetings with the two of them and shared detailed communications, with the involvement of HR too. Thus I feel that that they will be best placed to be the recipients of my grievance.
I also want to CC in the HoD’s line manager into the grievance, who is our HoF (Head of Sciences). I want her to be in on the details of all that has happened, hoping of course that she doesn’t try to have the HoD’s back.
I wondering if the Head would also get sent a copy of my grievance?
Thank you

You need to make sure you follow the process if you want a favourable outcome. It will say in the procedure who to send it to. If you go outside of the process or copy in everyman and his dog then it
will seem like you are being vexatious and not enabling a proper investigation.

If the policy says it has to go to the Head then it has to go to the head. You don’t want your grievance to collapse because you didn’t follow due process to the letter. In the content of the grievance you can make reference to the previous informal complaints, and who dealt with them. If HR are involved then the HT will already be aware of the situation, even if they have delegated the detail to their DHT and AHT.
