TA - I think I'm going to leave

I love the school I work at but don't feel I can do the hours any longer. We have to provide wraparound care which is now being difficult with my own children.

Is there any point in asking whether I can reduce hours or should I just resign? The teacher I work with has said to go and ask to reduce my hours, but they do need someone there to do the wraparound care so I expect the answer will be no.

It was in my contract to work standard school hours 2 days a week and 3 days a week work until 6pm. I can't justify the increased cost of my own children's care against what I am paid. Basically we do crafts with the children for 3 hours and provide a snack.

Thanks @floorprotector

Sorry, I don't think the school is being unreasonable and I think some of the tone is lost due to my writing. I'm really upset about leaving as I love the school but the hours are long and the pay is awful.

What's recruitment like in your area? Staffing ASC is a nightmare but so is recruiting a TA so in my school you'd possibly be allowed to do it. It only works pay wise if you don't have children or if your children attend the same school and go to ASC for free.
