Starting new job pregnant

Hi all,

Starting a new job in a few weeks, teaching year 6.

I’m pregnant, and baby will disrupt SATs. Shall I tell them now before I start, to give them a chance to reshuffle? Even though it’s v early days and I wouldn’t usually announce pregnancy this early.

Agree - say nothing.

It is inconvenient but once you do tell them , they have time to think of a plan.

Ultimately, pregnancy is inconvenient but it is part of life. People do discriminate and telling them earlier gives more chances for their attitudes to impact your career. Just tell them once you've had the 12 week scan and are ready. It feels like a big deal now but longer term life will go on around your maternity.
