Who do you think had the toughest job in your school?

I think it's our Cover Supervisors. They are amazing and will literally turn their hand to anything and we are very lucky to have them. Their behaviour management is fab but god I don't envy them one bit because they never, ever seem to stop. I think our SLT expect a bit much from ours as they are left whichever lesson we would be teaching, so not babysitters, as I know they can be in some other places. The Cover Manager is superhuman and seems to just about do everything.

Also, our site manager. He's got a tough job for sure.

To be quite honest, I think it's impossible to say who's role is tougher. Heads, DSLs, SENCOS, office staff( the abuse!!,) teachers, TAs, cleaners ( have you ever been in the boys toilets at the end of the day🤮) the whole kit and kaboodle have it tough!

HOD of a major department. Nearly full teaching load and then all the extras from parents and SLT, results responsibility etc… with little thanks for it.

I think in our school it's HOYs. They have about a 50% teaching load, and no assistant HOYs, in a large comprehensive, it's just relentless. They have to deal with a lot of stuff that the DSL gets through for their year group, so there's the emotional drain too. They don't tend to last long.

TA's are worth their weight in gold. I couldn't do without mine!

Oh yes office staff! We have one who has just left and you can really tell the impact they had on the school, we've been unable to replace them so far.

I'm generalising madly, but Deputy Heads. If the HT is rubbish, their life is hell. I should say of the numerous HTs I've experienced, only two were truly up to snuff, the rest were more or less carried by excellent DHs.
