No idea if I have a job for next year 😬

I am currently working as a 1:1 ta on a fixed term contract until the 31st August . I'm really hoping it will be extended but we're currently two weeks away from the summer holidays and I've heard absolutely nothing one way or the other 😬 some other staff have already been told they have new positions within the school for the next academic year so I know there must have been some forward planning . Am I right in thinking I probably don't have a job for next year? The only thing that makes me think perhaps otherwise is that I was given a nudge to provide some documents (qualification related) just a few days ago, that I'll have to pay for.
The head is lovely and chatty and friendly so I would like to think she would tell me one way or the other so that I can plan for next year and apply for other jobs If needed but I'm too anxious to approach her about it ? I guess I'm nervous about hearing bad news!
Anyone else been in this position?

You really need to ask her. No need to be nervous about hearing 'bad news' as even if your contract isn't being renewed there are so many TA jobs being advertised at this time of year, as an experienced TA, no doubt you'll have a job by September.

It is odd however that she hasn't spoken to you about it by now.

Take a look at your local jobs adverts, apply for a couple that you fancy then let the head know that you're looking around so if she wants you can she clarify this please.
Honestly, you are basically unicorn shit just now so don't let them mess you about, you will walk into a new job with ease.

I’d have had a conversation about this with the HT just after the Easter holidays. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be asking.

We were told today that fixed term contracts were being renewed. Apparently waiting for confirmation of budget from LEA

I would approach her. You need to know where you stand for next year. If they aren’t renewing your contract its naughty of them not to communicate this already.

Unfortunately, due to the government not releasing the STRB report, your head probably can't finalise their budget for next year yet. They're probably hoping to keep you but aware it may be financially difficult.

As others have said, you can easily find a job elsewhere in most parts of England, so it makes sense to talk to the head and say you need to apply for other jobs unless they can offer you a contract for September this week.

It's really unfair to put you in this situation, and I'm sorry.
