Same here. It’s actually Transfer Day at ours today too.
We’ve been waiting for 13 years. Can’t wait for Wednesday.

How come it's a 2 day inspection after all that time? Isn't it usually 1 day? And I thought Ofsted didn't call on a Friday?! This is terrible news if they now do!

Sorry to hear that, honestly OFSTED is ridiculously stressful and yes despite what people say, you'll be working all weekend now. You have my sympathy.

On the bright side, hopefully you'll do well in which case the pressure is off for the summer. You can have a relaxing Summer holiday and come back in September knowing that you aren't looking over your shoulder and dreading the call.

Good luck!

Apparently the Monday inspection is because of the teacher strikes next week.

I smell the OFSTED/DfE kick back.

It stinks.

Surely it would alway be a two day one after a thirteen year gap? Ours certainly was.

5childrenand · 02/07/2023 20:41

They’re all 2 day now. The 1 dayers went out in the latest incarnation of the framework.

So sorry to all those who have had their weekends written off :( utterly miserable

No they didn't, we had a one day in this current academic year.

Oh apologies. I thought they’d gone completely but see they are still a thing for small schools. Thanks for correcting me 😊

I’m a two form primary with 450 on roll - we had a two day inspection in February 2022.

Had the call on the Friday for the following Monday and Tuesday. At least we had two full days without pupils to prepare. It was a long weekend for sure on site.
Hopefully that was my last one before I retire in 3 years time. The inspection before that was 2017 so more than likely.

good96 · 04/07/2023 15:55

I still can’t get my head around why a school wouldn’t be inspected in 13 years?
In fact, I would go as far to say that a school should be inspected at least every 7 years as a minimum and if a new HT is appointed within 1-3 years.

And I had no idea it was just small schools! Shows we are all in our own bubble.

At least it is all over now. Relief !

Flippper · 05/07/2023 15:15

How was it? Primary or secondary?

Frost1111 · 08/07/2023 23:23

At least you got the weekend to prepare, if they called on Thursday they would be there on Friday.

I really disagree this is an ‘at least’. All it does is writes off a weekend, which should be non-working time, and leaves people feeling stressed and worried for longer ie over a whole weekend instead of an afternoon and evening.

Presumably they were outstanding during the time when outstanding schools weren't being reinspected. I think OFSTED are still working through that list of schools.

I agree that if OFSTED is going to be a thing, a 13yo OFSTED is totally meaningless.
