Booking school trips - how far in advance?

For those of you that are involved in organising school trips (from the UK to France) how far in advance do you need to book to secure a slot? My school is considering doing this and my manager seems to think we can wait until next school year to book something for that year i.e. book in September 2023 for that school year.

What's your experience? My initial researches indicate that next year 2023-2024 is already hard to find a slot in.

No specific experience of France but many schools essentially have a rolling yearly booking that they confirm each year. So you would probably have to get in before this year's trips but also they may still give their current customers first refusal of that slot.

Our two France trips go at the same time time each year in June and July and we book them around October time once we've done expression of interest and got an idea of numbers.
