With today being the resignation deadline for August departure- any of you fellow MNs on here moving on at the end of term?

No but friends across multiple schools have said there are teachers leaving with no jobs to go to which is quite scary

Postapocalypticcowgirl · 01/06/2023 10:28

Not me, but I was in that position last year. I also did the thing of handing in my resignation quite late because of a bit of an odd situation with the job I was moving to. I felt nothing but relief, and it's worked out really well.

I hope other people moving schools have the same experience.

And yes, I've also heard rumours of people resigning with no job to go to- I'm assuming the long term plan is to leave teaching.

Me, myself and I.

DS said quite a few more than usual are leaving at his large secondary school, many of them intending to leave the profession. He said lots of these are younger staff with less than 3 years in teaching.

We're a 2 form entry primary school and losing 4 teachers - all leaving teaching! And we're a lovely school.

Going to a new secondary which has a great reputation for behaviour. Cannot wait. Behaviour where I am currently feels feral and end of f*ING days. Management are absolutely dreadful. I'm not even employed as a teacher but as a cover supervisor and have still had my own form and classes (in a subject I'm not specialised in) for over half the year as they cannot recruit. I feel exploited, stressed and at the end of my sanity!! Roll on July.🙏🙏🙏🙏.

minisoksmakehardwork · 03/06/2023 21:04

15 teachers/cover supervisors/TAs have handed their notice in at my school, all to be gone by the end of school year at the latest. This doesn't include the 11 of us who have already left over this half term. More plan on going, with the back up of supply teaching if they cannot get a permanent role for sept.

TortolaParadise · 03/06/2023 21:37

As happy as I am for everyone (myself included) it is sad that it comes to this. All we ever wanted to do was a good job (academically and pastorally) for the families in our care.

LouisaBeara · 04/06/2023 10:02

I am leaving my toxic school at the end of term. Taken a £10000 pay cut for a job in the civil service. I am hoping this is the right decision! I have an interview for a really lovely grammar school in June. Only two days a week so I would have to do a day of supply. I don't know which one I should go for at all. No idea!!!

minisoksmakehardwork · 04/06/2023 19:45

@LouisaBeara - I and a colleague have moved into the civil service. Less holidays but paid for all the hours we do work, plus accrual of hours over and double the pay for us.

Have a look at the civil service pay scales and see how long it might take you to make up the 10k

Congrats! Soooo made up for you @Foxymoxy68!👏

Foxymoxy68 · 05/06/2023 23:40

Thank you TortolaParadise! It's a very surreal feeling after 31 years. 7 weeks and counting.......

2ApplesShortOfABasket · 07/06/2023 17:59

I am one of those leaving with no job to go to. Couldn't see any other alternative option. I had 2 weeks of WRS before Easter and OH wrote report. I went back and most of the recommendations were ignored. Back on WRS now and won't be returning.

Pebbleinthesand · 12/06/2023 20:18

I'm moving on to a smaller school and going back full time for the first time in 6 years. I'm excited though and the school I'm moving to has a really lovely feel to it.
