Small primary school, Head works from home 1-2 days a week. Is this 'normal'? Thoughts?

Our head and deputy never do break duties!

HTs ‘wfh’ just shows that schools don’t need their own HT onsite.
Schools should be run centrally rather than having £100k staff members doing exactly the same thing as other £100k staff members 5 minutes down the road.
Imagine a commercial company having a CEO in every subsidiary/branch - it’s a massive waste of money.

Not sure you really know what heads do. I'm primaries they're more like operations managers (and elements of other roles) than a CEO. Every retail store needs some sort of manager on the ground and it's not very different to that. Even the MAT model, which god knows if about saving money, has a CEO but some sort of individual principal, headteacher or head of school in the individual buildings.

Oh, and to add many heads are on nothing like £100k. I don't think ours clears much more than £60k.

They do exactly the same as the one up the road.
Every site can just have a DHT on a much lower L scale.

Even a £60k HT is £85k including oncosts.

Our head runs 2 schools. He definitely has no capacity to run more. Our last deputy head left because, funnily enough, people aren't willing to be a nearly full time teacher and also acting head teacher for half the week for very little extra money.
