School led tutoring - have any TAs out there signed up?

I am a TA specialising in maths at a large high school, where our after school tutoring programme is in full swing - small groups of up to 6 students. The guidance on the government website says that tutors do not have to have QTS if they complete an online training course first. Apparently the funding is expected to be available next year too, so I may ask if I can deliver some sessions - has anyone out there done this as a TA or does your school prefer teaching staff?

Slightly off topic, but the funding for this is being massively cut each year...
Last year the government grant covered 75% of the cost and the school paid the other 25%. This academic year the grant covers 60% and school has to fund the other 40% but next year the funding will only cover 25% of the cost. I can't see my school being able to afford to pay the 75% required to top up my salary with the budget as it is.
I'm a teacher so can't really answer your question, but just wanted you to be aware of the funding issue.
