Sexual violence threat by pupil

I have a challenging, low ability KS4 class who have taken up all of my energy and headspace since I began teaching them in September, but the constant disrespect has culminated in threats of sexual violence towards me from one young man.

SMT have taken this seriously and issued a FTE, and colleagues have been supportive, but I don't know how to carry on from this point when I have to teach the class again.

I can't be certain of the way other pupils, including his friends, will react, as the class have largely not been cooperative or 'on-side', and do not respond well at all even to being given instructions by adults or being expected to try hard. They emulate poor behaviour of others and the

I've clearly been unsuccessful in my attempts to challenge or change their attitudes. In trying not to tolerate lower level behavioural issues and worrying opinions, and put consequences in place, I've been treated as though sanctioning l was 'making a threat' and received this inappropriate comment almost in retaliation.

I'm just not confident I have any authority. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best approach to take?
