TLR and notice periods

I've seen a thread asking about dropping a TLR and the last message on this was from the originator who said she and the Head had no idea on notice period required.

I have resigned from a TLR and was expecting to work my notice out. There was no additional contract as the school are at pains to point out. I haven't resigned the TLR through threats, it was just that they never provided a job description, and then lied about it not being a job share - which it was.

I never felt it was a job share or even part time, so I quit through pique.

Now I am expecting the job contract I do have to be honoured with a notice period of the sdame length. I never said I wanted to quit immediately and they still expect me to train up the non-specialist to become the 'Director of Learning.:

Can anyone give me their own experience?

There is usually no right to resign just the TLR without resigning the whole post. That's because if someone resigns as head of history (say), they will need to recruit a new head of history, and if there is no suitable internal candidate, they will need someone new to the department who will need your teaching hours.

That said, it is often possible to negotiate on this - if there is a suitable internal candidate.

It's not quite clear what you've been offered, but be aware that they may be doing a favour if you are being allowed to stay on without the TLR. If you are being asked to train your replacement, that might just be a question of using the extra non-contact time you had in your role. If you're not doing any work towards the post, you might expect to have your teaching hours increased.
