Watching the World Cup in school

Will you be showing the England game next week at your school?

Article in the TES saying schools aren't showing it due to ethical concerns around the host country

So nothing to do with lost teaching and learning time then?

It is something that has been discussed at meetings over the last couple of weeks. At the moment, the decision is no whilst the WC is in early stages - you got to bear in mind, a game goes on for at least 2 hours with HT and more if in ET. Every lesson is an hour long, so that would mean students potentially missing 2+ hours of studying when England matches are on.

If they do however progress to semi final/final stages then this will be reviewed for sure. Planning to use our sports hall facilities with a projector.

We are. I disagree with the decision for a match in the group stages where it's really uncontested.

Maybe in the knockout rounds as so many will stay off to watch it our attendance figures will be affected.

We lose 2 hours with year 11.

There are option for those who don't want to watch it on ethical grounds or would rather study.
