Hello team.

I've just taken a very exciting new job in the further education sector in an establishment that "requires improvement" across the board.

the domain I'm struggling with is leadership and management and how to demonstrate change.

I'd be delighted to hear from anyone else in this area of education, PARTICULARLY if they are in the West Midlands, and are prepared to talk to me about inspections and the like.

Are you leading & managing a particular subject area? There may be networks that exist that you could join.

In terms of leading and managing 'people' - spend some time people watching. What is the culture of the school? Do staff know who their line managers are? How effective are they? Meet with middle management first and sound them out so that you can better understand how to go about implementing and sustaining change.

Decide with wider senior management your focus - once you get 'buy in' from senior colleagues your path should be smoother. Get them to support you to create an action plan. Then hold everyone to account.

What were the improvement points from the ofsted inspection under leadership & management?
