Retirement at Easter but pension details vague

DH has taught for about 25 years and has been trying to find out how much we'd get if he were to retire at Easter. He'd be 58. He's had a free consultation but apparently the McCloud judgement means that until he actually retires, no-one can tell him what his lump sum and monthly sum would be. Is that right? Has anyone else retired in the last couple of months who can clarify what happened to their figures? Were they much different from what you'd been quoted? Obviously, he's not retired before so we don't know if this is just how it is. He's in the TPS. TIA.

Look up David Fountain on YouTube. He is very knowledgable and has various videos on teachers pensions, including the McCloud judgement.
