I need to vent about my NQT

I have a probationer (nqt?) as my stage partner this year (Scotland). She is driving me mad. I don't know how she got through teacher training. Her spelling and grammar is atrocious, her behaviour management isn't much better, and even worse, she keeps informing me on 'best practice' and 'new research' she's been reading about.

AAARRGGHHHHH.

Almost everyone gets through teacher training, in my experience.
Good luck! Luckily none of my ECTs are like this... but I have had to walk away from trainees when they start...

I'd give my right arm for my first ECT post. I can't get a post. (Not many on my course did). I can't even get supply teaching, only TA supply. It's so deflating to watch some teachers teach knowing I could do a much better job. By that, I mean basic spelling and grammar errors on wall displays, slides etc. Butchering column addition lessons. No scaffolding, behaviour management that borders on humiliation. I've seen it all.

Even when their training schools flag significant issues. As a school, we've had a few trainees for whom we had to have serious discussions with their training providers. Their response when we said we couldn't pass them was to move them to a school, for a few weeks, that was willing to rubber stamp it.

I get that the Government keeps missing it's teacher training targets again and again but the declining requirements in securing a training place (and then again to pass through) are just a massive issue waiting to happen.

We've been very lucky with the ECT we've employed this year. She's needing help and guidance but is also quickly learning and adapting.
