Aqa English results 2022

How did your students do? In my school, English performed worse than other subjects. I'm being asked to explain how an 8 in history gor a 6 on Language... assumption is my teaching must be weak.
Just wondering if anyone felt the Aqa marking was harsh in English? Or grade boundaries etc..? I haven't any info on the national picture.

English was better than maths this year - best results for us in several years.

Have you looked at scripts or the QLA?

JaffavsCookie · 18/09/2022 21:29

Not an English teacher ( in case you can’t work it out by my lack of spelling and grammar) but the English results in our school were amazing, literally the best we have ever had. I congratulated the faculty leader and she was like, it’s only downhill from here. Only 10 kids got less than a 4 in lang, and only 3 in lit ( slightly lower entry nos)

Interesting! Thank you!

Not seen scripts yet. Sorry what is QLA @MrsHamlet ?

Our results were better but still worst in school. And they were insane.
The AO6 marking was awful. Getting 15/16 on one language paper and 7/16 on the other!
They lost one whole English Language paper for one student and have just awarded him a grade based on one.
We are still waiting for them to locate the 19th century lit paper of another student.
The papers I have seen so far are awful. The marking makes no sense whatsoever. I have a new member of the department who marked this year and he doesn't understand it either. I am fuming.

My child’s language paper was remarked as only 1 mark off an 8. It went up 11 marks to a grade 9. I’m delighted but horrified that the original marking was so wrong.
