Any English lit Alevel teachers about? Just been asked to step up!

Inset today, and the teacher appointed for A’level teaching has decided not to show. 😮And I’ve been asked to step up and take over the year 13 A’level literature group.

Any thoughts? I haven’t ever taught A’level before (in fact since my kids, I haven’t even had a year 11 group), but I do have a PhD so I’m seen as being ‘intellectual’!

I would like to do it, but I’m very nervous. Does anyone have advice/reading suggestions/tips on who I should follow on Twitter etc??

truly grateful for any tips

No advice about who to follow on Twitter. That would be the very last place I'd go!!
Which spec? Which texts? Which units?
Picking groups up mid way isn't easy, so you'll need a really clear grip of the assessment criteria for "your" bits and then build your teaching round that. We don't discuss AO2 at all in my teaching of certain texts because it won't be assessed.
What resources do the school already have?

I love teaching A level.

Thanks very much for your reply! In typical school style, all our timetables have been re-written instead. 😬 So I’m no longer being given the A’level class after all!

FFS!

I know! I managed to feel both relieved and disappointed at the same time!

🤣
I had three A level groups last year , all doing different things. Many of my grey hairs are related to that.
