Anyone else ruin the holiday by panicking about it ending?!

Just what the title says! I spend the second half of the summer holidays panicking that it’s almost over and waking up most nights with a start worrying about all the things coming up in September I need to do! I like my job and have a fairly decent work life balance in term time but I can’t stop this anxiety in the holidays. Anyone else?

Oh and I can’t mention it to non teacher friends because they understandably would love these long holidays!

Yes to the point we always have to have our holiday in the first half or I ruin it :P

Glad I’m not yet only one! I’m trying to
plan fun stuff for the next week or two but I am consumed with anxiety so will probably ruin it all! Oh dear - need to work on this!

I’m the opposite and I’n currently away until the 31st so I purposefully can’t do any work or stress.

Yes! I'm starting to stress now. My work life balance isnt great and not particularly looking forward to going back. I'm stressing and honestly was awake at 2am thinking of work! Ridiculous! I want to be part time but HT not accommodating and then I'm stressing about cost of living if I go part time elsewhere..... generally just stressed!!

Bakerofbeans · 22/08/2022 09:47

I do this too and it seems to be getting worse every year, not better!

I’m support staff in a secondary and absolutely dread going back for weeks before it happens. I don’t mind the job but don’t have any close friends amongst my colleagues, so that doesn’t help either. I don’t know how to stop myself ruining the last few weeks of the holiday with my angst 😬

Yip! In a beautiful cottage in the middle
of idyllic countryside and all I can think of is planning for a new key stage, leadership responsibilities, looming ofsted - arrgh.

I used to do this. It was one of the reasons I left school teaching. No point having long holidays if you're too stressed to enjoy them.

TheNefariousOrange · 23/08/2022 21:37

I can't bring myself to plan. Usually by this point I'm quite looking forward to going back but now I'm dreading it. I am literally holding on to see how the economy plays out before I decide to jump ship.

DinkyDaisy · 24/08/2022 08:49

I am dreading going back. Support staff. Despite crap pay under huge amount of pressure due to reduced support staff capacity. Going out for day trips with children to try and distract myself. Crap at compartmentalising though.
