New school not moving me up pay scale

New school from Sept. Main pay scale. Great results/meeting targets/great feedback at current school. They've just sent me my contract and they aren't moving me up the pay scale. They offer no reason for this. I have asked why but do I have any rights here? Are they allowed to do this? Other people starting are being moved up pay scale, why not me?

They are allowed to do that. There's no longer any pay portability.

Fecking Michael Gove did away with pay progression and portability. It sucks 😡

Last time I moved, my contract kept me at same pay point, but at appraisal in September, my results and evidence from my previous school were reviewed by my new line manager and the pay recommendation was made there. I received the next point backdated to September, like other staff.

Your starting position should have been agreed at interview.

You need to negotiate this when they make the offer, another time. Ask for their pay policy and then you may be able to figure out a way forward, even if it takes a year.
