I need some inspiration
What do you like getting?

Last year at the end of term I made cakes for the staff room and then the staff I was buying for I bought Costa vouchers - but boring but hopefully they liked them

Last Christmas I did candles

I need inspiration - tell me what you like!

I like things which are meaningful to my relationship with the students. Last year I got a lot of monster munch 🤣

Pencils, paper, glue sticks, white board pens, post it notes, marking pebs, highlighters...etc. All very gratefully received and it means the teacher doesn't have to spend their own money on them.

A card with a nice message is all I want, but vouchers would be very much appreciated too. I don't keep the nick nack type gifts.

Magicandspiders · 25/06/2022 19:20

Costa voucher is always fab! Or a nice homemade card.

Things i have appreciated most are like Mrs Hamlet says, about my relationship with them. I can’t mention the really special ones as they are super identifiable but i love the correct colour of wine, freddos or hotel chocolate ( standing joke amongst the kids ) bags of ground coffee ( I wouldn’t ever use a costa vocuher tbh, but have been given and very much appreciated m and s vouchers) and of course a message written by the kid in a card. In fact one of the nicest things i got this year was an A4 piece of paper with a virtual essay on it from a kid who had a fairly bumpy ride through school.

JaffavsCookie · 25/06/2022 22:45

Home made cakes to share would always be appreciated

Chickenkorma64 · 27/06/2022 19:18

Re homemade cakes, unless we knew you well, in my school there is no way we’d eat your baking, sorry.

We don’t expect anything more than your thanks, there is no need to buy anything

My DC said their teachers buy quite a few books for the class from their own money so I am thinking a Waterstones gift card and something little for them personally like hand cream. Primary teachers, do you think that would be well received? My DC will write cards too with a personal message as they have been great especially in tough times. I think I will buy a box of biscuits for staff room too soon so they can have that during breaks in the last few weeks of term. I work in a secondary school and though we don’t get many individual presents, that is always appreciated in my staff room!

Really don’t want to buy things that will be wasted, especially right now, but would like to show appreciation.
