Hi. I have been teaching for a long time, am currently head of faculty and am wanting to take a step up to assistant head but cannot get an interview. I'm clearly doing something wrong in my applications but the only feedback I've managed to get was that I need to volunteer for more in my current school. I've volunteered constantly and widened my experience for over 10 years, I've contributed to whole school development consistently over this time and made a significant impact but I guess I'm not covering this enough in my applications. Any advice would be really helpful please as it's really starting to get me down. Thanks

What area of leadership are you interested in and what type of faculty do you currently lead?

What have your current school offered? Can you do some leadership work in these areas at your current school? Have you got this in your appraisal objectives?
If you can get your head to help prepare you, that might help.
