Ofsted called yesterday but Head off with Covid

We had The Call yesterday but because the Head is off with Covid and won't be back until next week, we were told that there will be a delay before they come back to inspect. Anyone else experienced this? Any idea when they might be back- presumably this academic year? We are all now on pins wondering when Ofsted will call again

Yes, we had this. They initially called mid September, they came back in October straight after half term.

I know a school where they first called in December and again a couple of weeks ago. The Head has been off with long covid since October. Apparently they asked when she’s due back (phased return after half term) so the school aren’t expecting to hear again till after that. They just want it over and done with!

We had the call at the end of September, deferred because of covid, they came in December.
It was actually really useful because we could make sure we were really prepared and when the second call came we were relatively calm, because we knew it was coming.

PA couple of years pre-Covid, Ofsted rang on a snowy day when the HT, at the request of the police, had just closed the school and was trying to get the kids home early. The school had alreasy bern declared closed for the following day.

Ofsted deferred and the school was on high alert until Ofsted range once more - 9 months later.

Expected visits post-deferral/monitoring seem to be really delayed at the minute from what people are saying. Which is of course excellent for stress levels.

Have you had 'The Call' yet?

No! The atmosphere in school has been absolutely awful over the last few weeks and we really hoped that Ofsted would come before Easter. We've had wall to wall learning walks, book looks etc and we just want it over and done with.
