I'm starting one soon. What is the workload like though? Bit concerned I've bitten off more than I can chew before I've even startedShock

My poor ECT was supposed to attend a face to face thing miles away in the middle of nowhere - and they don’t drive! It’s just ridiculous, all of it. It should be a paid position but of course they’ve got staff who genuinely love mentoring to do it and take advantage of their goodwill by totally taking the piss. Grrrrrrrr! The stupid platform UCLExtend is a bad joke and user-interface-fail.
Can you tell I don’t rate the ECT programme?

If you think the UCL one is bad, you should see teach first!

I started npqh February 2020. Managed on face to face residential training before covid. Then the rest online. I loved the face to face training but online not so fun. Still learnt a lot though. Writing up the assignments are not fun though .... jealous to hear they no longer have to do them!

@Raspberry I'm starting to worry! I did the conference last week- UCL- but haven't done a tap since. Not sure when I'll ever find the time. My kids are so busy with after-school clubs, sport etc. Then there's cooking, tidying... Oh and my day job in school. I feel like that monkey emoji with head in hands.
What reading dud you do? Do you have a mentor and peer learning meeting set up?

I did NPQML and I'd say it was about an hour's work on top of the 6 or so hur long training sessions. I think the people running mine may have been very lazy though and just passed us all without setting any serious work...

@MrsHamlet I am an ECT on the TeachFirst programme. Do not love it, and the LEA have decided we need to do extra stuff too.

MrsHamlet · 27/11/2021 11:02

@13luckyblackcats it's the most condescending twaddle I have ever had the misfortune to be involved with. I complain about it to the appropriate body regularly. I will be looking for a different provider for my next cohort.
