The perfect job has come up at my perfect school but it's being advertised yet (I have insider knowledge!) Would you email to express interest and show eagerness or would it be seen as unnecessary?

If it hasn't been advertised, I personally would hold off for now but I would spend time looking at my CV and the school and seeing how I could present myself in the most appealing way - look at core values and school mission statement. Do your research in that way.

Aware you worried that it might never be advertised externally?

If you want to apply early, I’d make it a speculative “if something becomes available” type approach rather than “my friend says..”

They’d most likely ask you to apply in the normal way though, so maybe less hassle just to wait?
