Sick leave and summer holidays

I have been on sick leave for four weeks now. In and out of the hospital with pneumonia, bringing up blood, the lot. My doctor has signed me off until the day after term ends, citing that I need to rest. If my sick leave runs into the holidays does that mean they can count the whole summer as sick leave? I don't even know our sick pay entitlement or how to calculate years of service if we follow the burgundy book scheme...

If your sick note says you're sick until x date that is when your sick leave ends. But holidays are tricky.
You need ti have a look at your policy

I am signed off until the last day and was informed by my NEU caseworker that my pay returns to normal the day after that.

Check with your union: teachers don't get holidays, it is time when the school is closed.

According to the burgundy book, it depends on how many years service you have, but in your circumstances if you are in your second year or further it sounds like you should be OK. Holidays do not count when taking sick days/pay into consideration. NEU guidance: neu.org.uk/advice/teachers-sick-pay-and-sick-leave-entitlement

Gosh, our school does the exact opposite ( thought it was normal) you need to befit for work for a school day in order to end sick leave, but hopefully it will be ok for you OP as you should get full pay for six months ( again correct for my school but ....) get better soon.
