SENCOs- talk to me about initial assessment

Hello!

I'm a qualified SENDCo but I've been out of the classroom for a while working for the LA. I'm due to go back into a school in September and Im wondering if anything new has come on the market that I need to know about.
What do you use for your initial assessment to inform your graduated response?

Won't that depend on the need ?
Someone with a physical difficulty will have very different needs from someone with social / communication difficulties, or specific learning difficulties, or SEMH issues, or sensory needs, or medical needs, etc etc,etc

Also the age of the child. You've not said what phase.

And yes, it will depend on need but I was hoping someone would say what it was for.

Ie. For SEMH the new SnapB update is really useful
