Do you guys think one of the reasons I didn’t get the job was because I only asked one question?

At the end of interviews I only asked one question which was “what support and mentoring do you provide for NQT’s” I didn’t ask anymore. Do you think that could’ve put them off. I’m still waiting on feedback. It’s a really long waiting game I wish they’d just tell me why I didn’t get the job and put me out of my misery.

Sometimes people don’t ask any questions. They simply say that they have none or that all they had have been answered. That question is pretty standard for NQTs, although quite often is answered before the end of an interview. I’d imagine in the field of candidates there was a stronger one or one more of a match. Have you asked for feedback?

I’m so sorry you are disappointed but you are going to have to move on now.
You may get feedback, but it’s unlikely to be totally honest. In reality they have appointed someone who is a better fit for the school and the department, for whatever reason. In all probability you did nothing ‘wrong’ but someone else shone through and got the job.
I’m sure that the issue of questions at the end didn’t make the biggest of differences.
There will be other jobs.
My advice is to write a blog outlining the interview experience to get it all out of your system. Then, you really need to schedule some time for self care. I mean it! Spend some time doing the things you love, eating good food, having a bath - anything that will help restore you.
Then (and only then!) pick yourself up, put yourself together and continue the job search.
Good luck!
