Do you get the new job in writing before handing in your notice?

Hi all,

I have a job interview tomorrow, on the rare chance I get it, do I ask them to send me a contract or the offer in writing before I hand in my notice?

Or can schools be trusted it will all will come through eventually so it's fine to hand in your notice?

You're unlikely to get the contract for a while but I definitely wouldn't hand in my notice without an offer in writing

get the offer in writing before handing in your notice - always! Even if it's just an email. It doesn't have to be the full contract.
