Hi- I've secured a schools direct place for September. I have to do equivalency exams in both maths and biology. I have until the end of August but I'm so nervous !

I'm 50 and biology isn't too bad but the maths!! Oh my god it's so hard ! I've got past GCSE papers, I've got a revision guide but I it's been so long since I did it !

Anyone sat the equivalency exams ? How to they compare to the GSCE papers ?! Trying not to panic that I won't get it done in time ...

Place marking, I’m in a similar predicament re: maths.

I did a PGCE at UCL/IoE.

For science, there's some book called 'Science audit for PGCE'. It's tiny - I just memorised it.

Maths was basically Year 6 Maths.

Honestly, you can do it!

There are lots of SATs papers, etc on-line. And lots of books aimed at tutoring children for Common Entrance (13+). I'm pretty sure that should cover it.

Unless, of course, you're aiming to teach maths/biology at secondary.

That's going to be harder ...

Thanks for the replies ! No definitely not planning secondary - more like year 1 or 2 eventually.

Trying to get my head round algebra today - what a horrible thing it is - wonder if I ignore all the questions on that I could still pass ?! 🤔

If I could pass it so can you honestly. I never got past a D at GCSE maths and passed the equivalency first time.
What do you wrote on application forms if you don't have a gcse maths but you do have an equivalency?
