Hi all. I am looking at a vacancy advertised for a KS2 position in a small C of E primary school. It looks perfect for me and I really think I could thrive there.
My question is... will the fact that I am gay automatically put the school off hiring me?
My sexuality has nothing to do with my teaching career ultimately and doesn't have any bearing on whether I'm a good teacher or not. However, for a religious school, would this put them off?
I know legally it can't, but you know there is a difference between what is said officially and the true reasons for decisions.
They would definitely know my sexuality due to the equality and diversity form as well as a presentation of my interests and hobbies, which has pictures of me and my partner. Plus... I don't want to hide it!
ALSO, does anyone have experience of working as/with LGBT teachers in faith schools? Could you share experiences? Is this position actually going to be suitable for me?
Thanks for your help :)
