References for NQT job applications

So, Ive started my search. It's hard right now to know 100% where I feel confident applying. I don't think I can stay on where I am as its a little far removed from my area.

Do I need to ask the current head for a reference or my previous placement? Ive only been here for 9 days so its barely enough time for them to have anything to say. Plus its all virtual. Can I ask the last head teacher or is that going behind this places back? Bear in mind I was at the last one and physically met everyone etc I haven't done that here.

Who do I ask for a second reference from? Is that my uni tutors or can I ask my last mentor?

EDIT: if I ask my last mentor can I ask by text or does it need to be official and via email?

Ask your provider! It was decided for us, we’d get a uni one and one from the ht of our placement. It can definitely be one from your last placement especially as that one was in person
I would send it by email just bc it’s a little bit more formal
